The UTMB Health Information Management Department (HIM) is committed to respecting and protecting the rights of patients and their families. They are responsible for keeping all patient records confidential and helping with requests for medical records. Medical records are protected health information that cannot be released without the consent of the patient or their legally authorized representative, unless authorized or required by law. The UTMB provides patients with access to important parts of their medical history, including test and laboratory results, vaccination history, post-visit summaries and notes, messages from providers, and more, through a patient web portal called the UTMB MyChart.
